I've really been enjoying having 'real' art lessons with the kiddos lately. We played with tempera paints for the first time recently. They all are familiar with and love watercolors but it was fun to try something new. I am so glad all of my kids are old enough to handle this and we could all paint together.
Everyone started with a fresh pallet, multiple brushes and a 1/2 sheet of watercolor paper (I've discovered that the boys especially do better with smaller sized paper). A thrifted sheet was on the table, from now on our designated painting sheet tablecloth.
My only instructions were to fill the page completely and have fun mixing colors.
Fun stuff! The boys each did two paintings, and you could tell they were experimenting with colors and texture more in the second one, once they got the hang of this kind of paint.

Also, I can't believe how long it just was between posts. If life would just SLOW. DOWN. for a couple minutes, I swear I'd be grateful. I have a bunch of random stuff to tell you, and I'm going to try and be in this space more next week, so that's what you'll get - a bunch of random. Hope you don't mind!
Back soon,
xo
