So the boys have this thing. Mostly Monkey. He freaks out when I sing. Since he was little. It's too 'weird' for him or something. He just can't take it.
But Monkey: "MOM! You CAN'T SING!"
Apparently the first time I sang with the choir at church he said that quite loudly. I didn't hear him, luckily.
For the record, I am not a horrible singer. I'm not amazing or anything, but I can carry a tune and hold a part.
The girl can sing. Aaron can sing. They're allowed to sing. Sometimes after Monkey has gotten on my case, Aaron will start singing just to see if he gets caught. Nope. Even if he sings super silly and weird. Monkey pays no attention. But if I sing one note...
So my latestly reply to "MOM! You CAN'T SING!" is:
"Yes, I can. And I'm AWESOME."
(Yeah, he's caught on. He says I'm "not ALLOWED" to sing now. My alternate strategies: humming or lip synching. Also not allowed. But then I can say, "I'm not singing, I'm humming!" I did discover the other day that when he was busy eating an ice cream cone in the back seat he didn't seem to notice my singing!)
Please tell me I'm not the only one with this problem...
