Goodness, this week just got away from me! After a delish weekend of this:
I found myself sick with a cold. Boo. Getting better, but still. Surprise! Also surprising: the pies I ordered (after deciding I had no time to make them after all) were pretty tiny. So we made last minute cupcakes, too.
Packages are arriving and being stashed in certain places (can't give it away entirely) plus the kids are no longer allowed in the basement. Thankfully, they're not sneaky kiddos and quite enjoy surprises.
I now have like 98% of my shopping done, thanks in large part to various online shops (Amazon prime rules!). I made a list of expected packages so I can keep track!
This part was fun: we ordered someone's main present + accessories Monday night, after being shocked that suddenly it's sold out most places (this is why you usually order in October, Kirsten! For shame!). We were totally high-fiving ourselves that we were done. The next day we got an email that the main part of the order is actually out of stock and they can't ship it. Do we want them to still send the accessories or cancel our order? While we discussed that another email arrived. One of the accessories is out of stock, too. GRR!!! That meant TWO more orders had to be placed, because I had to track down the main toy (to a little Catholic book shop - who knew?) and still find the accessories somewhere else. Not the best surprise.
Another not so happy surprise was waking up one morning to find a decent gash in our van's bumper. Yay. We don't know how it happened, so that's lovely. And our van was JUST in the shop last week for other minor body repair!
Here's a good surprise. My MIL gifted us with another little Christmas quilt! I'll have to update the quilt post with this one and the one she made the redhead for his birthday.
Surprise: we are actually starting to decorate. That fall leaves quilt in the background above is folded and put away, and we got the Christmas books our and some garlands up. We don't usually decorate till December - and we still have another week before we get our tree, but somehow we all felt like it this year!
Surprise: I got my Christmas cards ordered! Just now! Woo! And, no surprise, Costco cards won again. I love that I can design my own cards and have them printed there, plus you can't beat the price! Maybe next year will be the year I screen print them again. I thought it would be this year, but let's face it, it's just NOT been my year.
