Bad Mom moments numbers 672, 673, 674:
On Wednesday, I sent the girl off in freezing cold weather to walk to her piano lesson. Forgetting that piano lessons don't resume until NEXT week.
I got the Swan Lake rehearsal schedule mixed up and sent the girl a half hour late today. I NEVER do this. Drove me crazy.
Started feeling better about the above until, after sending the girl to walk her brother to a neighbor girl's birthday party, I got a call from said girl's mother, informing me that the party was YESTERDAY. I wrote it on the wrong day on my calendar.
Oh. No. Because today Monkey and I had made a teddy bear-sized pillow, pillowcase and blanket together. Then he made a card for her and then made wrapping paper by painstakingly fingerprinting flowers and horses all by himself. Everything ready to go to the teddy bear tea party.
Which was YESTERDAY.
I'm losing it!!!
Back they come, and he just starts bawling. When you homeschool, you don't get invited to the whole kindergarten class's parties (thank goodness, really). So he was crushed. But a playdate will happen this week when he can give his friend her present (she wasn't even home!). Then I asked him to come to the store with me to pick out a treat to take to her house for a Teddy Bear Birthday Playdate. Also because he's delightful company.
And then I pretty much said 'yes' to everything he asked for.
Which included:
*free cookie from the bakery
*babybel cheeses
*radishes
*itty bitty bag of cheetos
*jumbo bag of marshmallow mateys cereal
*individual carton of Yoplait mixed berry yogurt (we're big carton Mountain High yogurt folks)
*Little Debby snack cakes (!!! I've never bought anything like this in my life)
*a coconut
Yeah, I'm a sucker (bad mom moment number 675?).
But in my defense, he's awfully cute.
