This weekend we celebrated Monkey's FIFTH birthday. Fifth. My BABY. When I started this blog he was just ONE.
And he's SUCH a big kid now.
I love this kid. He is amazing. I was just looking back at the post I wrote for his second birthday. Oh, that boy.
He still has a pretty awesome vocabulary.
I love how he chatters. Constantly.
And runs. Constantly.
He'd much rather be running than on a bike or scooter.
He still loves being in the garden.
He is pretty amazing at video games.
He loves school (most of the time) and has learned so much this year.
He has been such a blessing in our family - and such a great friend to his brother.
He has an awesome imagination.
On the morning of his birthday he asked me what an 'essay' was. Then decided he needed to write one. Now. About Bionicles.
I typed it up for him.
And then he asked for a folder for it.
Right now he's into: Legos (and Bionicles), Mouse Guard, Brio robots, Harry Potter, and drawing.
And snuggling.
So glad he is still a snuggler.
He is very picky about his bedtime story ("Um, that was kinda boring").
But will gladly tell me one instead if I snuggle him.
He starts stories with 'Mukashi mukashi' ('Once upon a time' in Japanese).
They are usually about helping Batman and Robin.
He says that life as a five year old is pretty much the same as when he was four.
Except he can climb trees better.
And I did end up making his birthday shirt based on his monkey design.
I spent a couple of evenings stitching this up - he was very excited about it (yay!) and told everyone that he designed it.
And totally called me on simplifying the grass. Or what I thought was grass.
"Um, Mom, you forgot the moss-covered rock!"
So, I will have to fix that.
Happy Birthday to the coolest five year old I know!
