I grew up as a military brat - my dad was in the Coast Guard, so we were always stationed on the east or west coasts - near the ocean. I can't tell you how much I miss the ocean, now that I live (entirely too) inland, and how much it meant to introduce my children to the wonderful sea.
I knew that Thomas would either love or hate the beach. You never know with that kid. Sometimes things you think he'll love he actually hates, and vice versa. Thankfully - it was love at first sight for Thomas and the beach. I wish you could have heard him giggling for the first half hour we were there. He loved it!
All three kids loved the beach instantly, actually - of course they did!
It was warm enough to go in the water - just - with clouds every morning, and sun in the afternoons.
They loved playing in the water and getting soaked.
Digging in the sand, throwing rocks in the water, moving the ocean one bucket at a time, and hunting for shells.
Jumping over the waves.
Monkey loved running around with big seaweed leaves.
I had planned on staying all day at the beach (on several days), but it worked out even better to go back to the hotel for lunch, then take a break with video games, books, dosing, and playing.
And then we'd go back. Or head to the pool. It was delightful.
Oh, and BTW, I did get some pix of Princess in her white dress at the beach - it was high tide, and she was sure she'd get wet, but I kept reassuring her and told her to just stand at the edge of the rocks. Well, of course a couple of waves washed up and surprised her - and stole her flip flops. And I had to laugh (and shoot a few more photos) of her chasing after her shoes!
We had so much fun!
