I hope you all had a warm, yummy holiday. We went to Aaron's family's home, which is about a 5 hour drive. The drive is a BIG deal, as my kids get super car sick and we have to remember to pack all of Thomas' gluten-free food, but the last couple of years the drives have been much calmer and uneventful, which is a delight.
The kids have also have been sleeping better there, which is definitely a delight. Even last year you practically had to sit on the boys to get them to settle down and go to sleep (and it took forever!). The older they get the easier the trip gets, which I am really appreciating.
Anyway, here is a little early Christmas present I brought for my MIL. It's the Wee Wonderfuls Quilting Bee Stitchette. My MIL is an amazing quilter, so I made this up into a pillow to put in her quilting room. Stitched at dance, of course.
The trip couldn't possibly go completely smoothly, of course, and we had to drive home with a feverish little girl. The girl who so rarely gets sick is feverish, croupy and has a sore throat and no voice.
That's the weirdest part. My chatterbox is silent. Communication yesterday took the form of 'thumbs up' or 'thumbs down' signals and occasional whispers. We ran her to the doctor as soon as we got home and she seems in better spirits today, although she won't be able to go to her dance class today or piano tomorrow. When I told her that she replied:
"This is a most unexpected turn of events."
See, she talks a lot even when she whispers.
