I've been dyeing more playsilks - some for us and some to give away for Christmas - you know that this fall is going to FLY by, right? So I'm starting early.
Anyway, they looked so pretty hanging on the line.
Unfortunately, for the first time, the red bled when I washed it. I don't know why I bothered to wash them, really, but now my pale yellow is a blush color, and the pretty green is.... bleh. So I will be re-dying those!
Here's the cool thing: I bought some little silk hankies to dye this time. I wasn't sure exactly what my kids would use them for, but you never do, right? Well, I stuck some in the church bag for Sunday - and the kids loved them.
We tied them together, end to end:
We tied the four corners up to make a basket for the others:
And Aaron occupied Thomas for about 30 minutes by wrapping and tying up matchbox cars with different knots. Thomas untied and would give them back to do it again.
Princess just liked holding and twisting hers while she read or drew (my kids are totally tactile), and Monkey fell asleep in my lap clutching a couple as little blankies.
And I'm sure next week, they'll come up with even more cool uses for the 'little silkies'.
So the idea is a total keeper. Especially for a longer-than-normal meeting (stake conference). And the pocket hankies are a great deal - they were $5.95 for 12. Rock on.
p.s. I dyed them with Kool-aid, just like last time.
