We chose a Chinese theme for Princess' party. She has always been fascinated by China.
I have to say, the party turned out darn cute, and everyone had fun, myself included. So, instead of one LONG post (because I want to show you a lot!) I'm going to break this into a few shorter posts. Today: the outfit.
Now, we could have gone ultra-themey and had her wear her Mulan kimono (Halloween 2005 - my mom made it), but I decided to do a capri + appliqued tee thing instead.
The party colors were pink + red - girly and somehow Chinese (or is that just me?).
I found this cute red fabric at Hancocks - and I forgot to take a closeup of it - it has pink blossoms and an Asian-type design to it. The capris are pretty wide-legged and trimmed with vintage loopy pink bias trim from Katie.
The pink shirt is appliquéd with 8 blossoms - made from the same red fabric. My only regret is buying a slightly too-big shirt.
I made these ruffly hair thingies, too - just gathered one edge of a long strip of the red fabric and sewed it together with a vintage red flower button (finally a good use for them!) and sewed it all onto a hair band.
The umbrella is from my mom - from a trip to SF Chinatown last year - and after this little photoshoot we brought it inside as part of the decorations.
