Summer Clothes
Sorry it's been rather boring here of late - we're just busy. Life never seems to slow down, only pick up!
I've been thinking of summer clothes, even though yesterday it was SNOWY. On May Day!
Anyway, this is a made-over skirt for Princess. It used to be mine, but I don't wear it anymore. I saved it, hoping to make a cute top for her (cut down + add straps) but she really wanted it to be a skirt. So, a quick 2 minute makeover and she is very happy. She's such a skirt girl.
She's wearing it over her dance clothes - hence the pink, but she has cute white and brown tshirts to wear with it, too.
(It really would have made a super-cute top, huh?)
Here are two 'enhanced' hand-me-down shirts for Monkey. He was so excited to see the robot: "I have TWO robot shirts now?!"
And band shirts for the boys (freezer paper stenciled). Thomas' is the drums. He is such a wanna-be drummer. Some of his favorite music right now (besides Arcade Fire) is Taiko drum music. He LOVES it. He loves to listen to it or watch youtube vids (here's one). I really wish the drummers would come to the library again.
Also on the summer clothes list: turn Thomas' torn pants into shorts (actually, my mom does this for me, her machine has the best stitch for it), make cropped pants for the boys, and linen skirts for me!
Do you have any summer sewing projects on your list?

Kirsten, these are all great. Love the skirt. Would have made a cute top, too, but she'll probably wear it more like a skirt. And I have mad love for your freezer pencil tees. Those are awesome.

I seriously need to be more like you in the clothes department for my kids! I'm sure they would totally love it! I always get so inspired when I see what you're up to, and then for whatever reason I get overwhelmed and just buy at Target! So, keep filling us in on the projects, someday it'll sink in for me!

I love all the t-shirts for the boys!! Especially the blue dog on the brown stripes. Looks like mini-boden.

Nice shirts. I like the dog one. And since I have done applique now and stamped, maybe I am going to the next level and do the freezer paper thing. I am just afraid of the cutting ...

We don't have any nifty sewing projects going on right now (just a lot of cleaning out-whee!), but I did have to say that my kids are *crazy* about Arcade Fire, and guess what? They played a free (free!) outdoor afternoon show in Carrboro on Friday, and I took all three of mine with me, and gosh, did we have a great time! They esp. loved "Rebellion" and "Power Out," and their cover of Bowie's "Heroes." It was a sunny, awesome afternoon :) (FREE! Sunny day! Live show! Whoo-hoo!)

Maybe once she tires of it as a skirt you can make it into a top?

Hi Kirsten. Just wanted to thank you for the tip on the puppy stencil. So cute! I made a shirt for my little guy. It's not as cute as yours (I love your fabric and color combos!) but still cute and fun. Thanks again.
