So, the other day at Target I found the CUTEST jumper for Princess (I'd link to it, but I don't see it on their website). I didn't buy it, but I thought I might go back and get it later. It was $15 - a great deal... or so I thought...
Now here's a good example of why I love to thrift. I went to a thrift store the next day, and got these clothes for Princess:

A nice hoodie, which she needed, a cute cord tiered skirt, and two long-sleeve t-shirts. Grand total: $15. The same price as the one jumper. Not my best deal ever (and not as good as this other time I spent $15) but still...
I don't always shop thrift - sometimes you just need a certain color/kind of top (to go with the thrifted skirt), or cute stripy tights. But it's worth checking the thrift store first! Especially for kids - when they outgrow/ruin stuff so quickly! I always check for good brands and things in good condition.
There is also the thrill of the hunt. :)
For the same price (or less!)as buying a cheap shirt at Target (which usually has ugly graphics - esp. for boys) you can buy a quality, name brand shirt at a consignment or thrift shop. Hooray for that!
My favorite thrift store is by my mom's house (Bonus! I don't have to take the kids!) and I always manage to find good stuff there - I passed on a cute plaid Tommy Hilfiger skirt for her, too.
What are you waiting for? Go thrift!
(I know, I know, I'm preaching to the choir, right?)
