Need anything embellished?
I shop differently since I've discovered the wonders of embellishing.
I found these $1.99 t-shirts for Thomas - but they had an ugly athletic logo on the bottom corner. No problem.
Literally 15 minutes before we had to drop him off at school, I'm quickly adding a little Dick & Jane patch to cover one of them up. Just the word fabric. I go and show him "Look! Dick & Jane!" and he says..."Where are they?" which made me run back upstairs and add the circle patch. Not my best work, but it does the job.
Here's a cardigan and a shirt that a friend asked me to dress up a bit - sorry it took me so long, Suzanne!
(Robot fabric patch, stencilled patch)
But the most fun lately was this:
breaking out a new t-shirt (for me), my bleach pen, and my mehndi book for inspiration.
I did one shoulder, and one little design on the lower corner.
Will definitely be doing that one again!

you are clever~
I keep thinking I should do something with all those shirts that I can't get stains out of. {My kids are pretty messy} Thanks for the inspiration :)

Oh, the bleach pen is nice! It didn't leave little holes?

Those are all great! The bleach pen, I never would have thought of that.

I love the Dick & Jane appliques. My son, Jack, has been reading the books with me at home. I might have to find myself some of that fabric.
And, don't you love bleach pens? I've only ever used them for stains, but you've given me a whole new reason to love them.

What fun! And nothing like quick projects for that instant gratification. I started shopping differently when I was ironing fabric on cards. Small pictures I could cut out were best. It's nice to shop with a plan in mind, though. :o)

Oh my, how very, very cute! I never thougth of a bleach pen... thanks for the idea!
I used to make my own patches for the kids'clothes with my machine's free-motion embroidery-- just doodling on fabric. These kind of things are SO MUCH better than the big logos they put on clothes these days.
Thanks for the fun ideas and inspiration!
