Need anything embellished?

I shop differently since I've discovered the wonders of embellishing.

I found these $1.99 t-shirts for Thomas - but they had an ugly athletic logo on the bottom corner.  No problem.

Literally 15 minutes before we had to drop him off at school, I'm quickly adding a little  Dick & Jane patch to cover one of them up.  Just the word fabric.  I go and show him "Look!  Dick & Jane!" and he says..."Where are they?"  which made me run back upstairs and add the circle patch.  Not my best work, but it does the job.

Here's a cardigan and a shirt that a friend asked me to dress up a bit - sorry it took me so long, Suzanne!

But the most fun lately was this:

breaking out a new t-shirt (for me), my bleach pen, and my mehndi book for inspiration.
I did one shoulder, and one little design on the lower corner.

Will definitely be doing that one again!

you are clever~
I keep thinking I should do something with all those shirts that I can't get stains out of. {My kids are pretty messy} Thanks for the inspiration :)

I have a zillion tops with stains on them (I shouldn't admit that)...what a great idea!!! I may have to copy you. :)

so cute!

(and the athletic logos are the worst, aren't they? it's *so cute* now!)

OMG..who woulda known about the wonders of the bleach pen! Great blog, I will stop in again :)

I love how you did that shirt with the bleach pen! It looks really cool. Must try it!

LOVE.IT.ALL!

very cute! Did you just zigzag stitch around the patches with a machine?

What great ideas! They all look fantastic!

Brilliant!

we need to do that bleach pen one when i come back home.

seriously.

way cool, kirsten.

My husband wants me to make him a shirt with "that cool cassette tape on it" he was a big fan. I love what you did with the bleach pen.

Oh, the bleach pen is nice! It didn't leave little holes?

Those are all great! The bleach pen, I never would have thought of that.

I love the Dick & Jane appliques. My son, Jack, has been reading the books with me at home. I might have to find myself some of that fabric.

And, don't you love bleach pens? I've only ever used them for stains, but you've given me a whole new reason to love them.

What fun! And nothing like quick projects for that instant gratification. I started shopping differently when I was ironing fabric on cards. Small pictures I could cut out were best. It's nice to shop with a plan in mind, though. :o)

Ooh I love the bleach pen t-shirt. i saw that on Martha once, but have yet to do it.

lovely embellishments, kirsten. your kids must be the best-dressed in your town.

Oh my, how very, very cute! I never thougth of a bleach pen... thanks for the idea!

I used to make my own patches for the kids'clothes with my machine's free-motion embroidery-- just doodling on fabric. These kind of things are SO MUCH better than the big logos they put on clothes these days.

Thanks for the fun ideas and inspiration!

i like the bleach pen idea - gotta try that!

OOoooooh loving the bleach pen thing- I saw that in Family Fun magazine for jeans- Thanks for reminding me about it!
