One of the things we're getting the kids for Christmas this year is a set of pretend food. Nothing fancy, but the play kitchen needs to be restocked. I thought I'd make each of the kids an apron to go with it. I thought this on Friday. On Saturday, I made these:
For Princess: made from a thrifted pink pillowcase from the stash Eva gave me, with some orange fabric, ric rac, and ribbon from the grab-bag I got at JoAnn's last time I was there.
The tuck at the bottom is because the pillowcase was actually a sham. I like it. And, of course, I had to make one for her doll, Violet, too. I love how these turned out!
For the boys, I used some old shirts that were Aaron's. I just cut a panel from the back of each. I like how it has the little pleat in the front.
I was going to add a pocket, and realized that the shirts already had pockets - so I sewed them right on. I didn't put side ties on the boys, thinking that they won't use them anyway. I can always change that. The bias-tape went much better than last time, but ideally I would have used a slightly thinner navy blue tape this is just what I had on hand. I appliqued their initials on them - and here's a shot of the back - see, it was a shirt! :)
The cool thing is that all of these were made using things I already had around. Gotta love that!
